.“My practice-based research aims to explore identity through connecting the objects I represent to memory and the classificatory systems in which they function. My project aims to catalogue and map some of my possessions, while the theory will explore concepts of classification, memory and identity (personal and social).
In my practice I am continually grappling with not only the notion of self, but the notion of what constitutes ‘making’and how it relates to ‘thinking’ and theory. If one hopes to marry the two together the lines, which separate them, seem hard to define. My activities take the role of an archivist who documents what we cannot see, making one’s memories tangible through cataloging. When the practice develops in the form of maps and documents, can this stillbe considered practice?”
After the talk you are invited for a glass of wine and the opportunity to meet the artist.
This project is a collaboration between Artlab Contemporary Print Studio and Lancashire Artist Network.
Talking Prints are sponsored by CADG

Talking Prints A Lecture by Keith Brown Wednesday, February 10th 6:30 pm Victoria Building , UCLAN
Talking Prints is a gem of an idea. Organized by Artlab in collaboration with the Lancashire Artists’ Network (LAN) and funded by CADG, it strives to bring the best of contemporary printmaking to the northwest. Master printers from across the UK are invited to show and discuss their work with an emphasis on current research and new technological developments.
As a printmaker and temporary transplant to Preston from the United States , Talking Prints is the perfect way to familiarize myself with contemporary UK printmaking practices and at times be completely inundated with new ideas and concepts.
